The Boeing 747-400 Passenger V4 Cargolux is a special version of the Boeing 747-400 wide-body airliner, customized for the Luxembourg-based cargo airline Cargolux. The aircraft combines the passenger cabin of the 747-400 with the cargo capabilities of the 747-400F (Freighter), making it a versatile and efficient option for transporting both people and goods across long distances.

The Boeing 747-400 Passenger V4 Cargolux features a stretched upper deck that can accommodate up to 416 passengers in a three-class configuration, or up to 524 passengers in a high-density layout. The main deck has a large side cargo door and a nose cargo door that allow loading and unloading of various types of cargo, including oversized items. The lower deck has two cargo compartments and a bulk cargo compartment that can hold up to 130.3 cubic meters of cargo.

The Boeing 747-400 Passenger V4 Cargolux is powered by four turbofan engines that offer a choice of three models: the Pratt & Whitney PW4000, the General Electric CF6-80C2 or the Rolls-Royce RB211-524G/H. The engines provide a maximum thrust of between 253 and 282 kilonewtons each, depending on the model. The aircraft has a maximum take-off weight of 396,900 kilograms and a maximum payload of 113,000 kilograms. It has a range of 7,285 nautical miles with a typical payload, or up to 8,357 nautical miles with reduced payload.

The Boeing 747-400 Passenger V4 Cargolux has a two-crew glass cockpit that eliminates the need for a flight engineer. The cockpit features six cathode ray tube displays that show flight information and system status. The aircraft is equipped with a flight management system, an inertial reference system, an enhanced ground proximity warning system, a traffic alert and collision avoidance system, and an automatic landing system.

The Boeing 747-400 Passenger V4 Cargolux is one of the most advanced and versatile variants of the Boeing 747 family. It offers a unique combination of passenger comfort and cargo capacity that makes it ideal for Cargolux's operations. The aircraft is also compatible with the Boeing 747 Large Cargo Freighter, which is used to transport parts of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Cargolux is the largest operator of Boeing wide-body freighters in Europe, with a fleet of 30 747-400 and 747-8 Freighters. In July 2022, Cargolux announced that it had selected the Boeing 777-8 Freighter as its preferred replacement for its aging 747-400 fleet.
