If you are a fan of Boeing 757 aircraft and you enjoy flying them in Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX), you might be interested in this multi package that includes several models and liveries of the 757-200 variant. In this blog post, I will review the features and details of this package and share my experience of flying it in FSX.
The package includes 15 highly accurate and detailed models of the 757-200, with different engine types (Rolls Royce RB211 or Pratt & Whitney PW2000), winglets (optional), and cargo configurations (special or package freighter). The models are based on the QualityWings Ultimate 757 Collection, which is an officially licensed product from Boeing and a well-known add-on for FSX and P3D. The package also includes many liveries from various airlines and operators, such as British Airways, Continental, FedEx, United, UPS, US Airways, Transavia, Northwest, El Al, and American. You can choose your favorite livery from the aircraft selection menu in FSX.
The external model of the 757-200 is very realistic and detailed, with accurate animations, textures, lighting effects, and reflections. You can see the moving parts of the aircraft, such as the flaps, spoilers, landing gear, thrust reversers, and doors. You can also admire the shiny paintwork and the distinctive features of each livery. The model has a two-stage night lighting system that illuminates the aircraft in different ways depending on the time of day.
The cockpit of the 757-200 is also very impressive, with a high quality 3D virtual cockpit that features standard 757 gauges or retrofit LCD displays, depending on the model. The cockpit is fully interactive and functional, with custom flight management computer (FMC), electronic instrument system (EICAS), traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS), customizable ground proximity warning system (GPWS), and autopilot. The cockpit also has realistic sounds, such as switches, alarms, warnings, and engine noises. The cockpit has a standard and a lite panel mode, which allows you to choose between a more complex or a simpler simulation experience.
The flight dynamics of the 757-200 are also very realistic and accurate, based on the real performance data of the aircraft and its engines. The aircraft handles smoothly and responsively, with a good balance between stability and maneuverability. The aircraft also has realistic fuel consumption, weight and balance, speed and altitude limits, and stall characteristics. The aircraft is easy to fly for beginners but also challenging for experts.
The package comes with a comprehensive manual that includes a flight tutorial and an FMC guide. The manual explains how to install and use the package, how to operate the aircraft systems and controls, how to plan and execute a flight with the FMC, how to deal with emergencies and failures, and how to perform various procedures and maneuvers. The manual also provides some background information about the history and development of the 757 aircraft.
