Heli Traffic 2009 is developed by Flight One Software, a company that has been producing quality add-ons for Flight Simulator for many years. Heli Traffic 2009 is compatible with both FSX and FS9, and it requires an internet connection for activation.

What makes Heli Traffic 2009 unique is that it adds AI helicopters that behave like real helicopters, not like airplanes. They take off and land vertically, fly at low altitudes and speeds, and use helipads instead of runways. They also have realistic sound effects and animations.

Heli Traffic 2009 has its own AI engine that controls the helicopter traffic, instead of relying on the default FS AI system. This allows for more flexibility and accuracy in planning and executing helicopter flights. You can customize the traffic density, parking times, approach slopes, cruising altitudes and speeds for each helipad and scheduled helicopter.

Heli Traffic 2009 uses both stock and add-on airports and helipads. You can also define your own landing spots using the program interface or by adding helipads with Airport Facilitator X, another Flight One product. Heli Traffic 2009 will automatically recognize and use these helipads.

Heli Traffic 2009 generates both random and scheduled helicopter traffic. For random traffic, you simply set the desired number of movements at each helipad, and the program will create realistic helicopter flights that match your settings. For scheduled traffic, you can create your own routes by selecting the helicopter model and specifying the helipads or landing spots to visit. You can also add enroute waypoints for more complex behavior, such as sightseeing flights or police patrols.

Heli Traffic 2009 can use any stock or add-on helicopter installed in FS, as well as existing add-on AI helicopters that come with airplane flight models. You can select which models to use for random traffic, as well as the model of each scheduled helicopter.

I have been using Heli Traffic 2009 for a few weeks now, and I must say that I am very impressed by it. It adds a lot of realism and variety to my flights, especially when flying in urban areas or near airports. I enjoy watching the AI helicopters take off and land at different helipads, or follow their routes over the scenery. The program is easy to use and configure, and it runs smoothly without affecting my frame rates.
