Flight Deck 6 is a flight simulation add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 and Flight Simulator X. It features realistic and detailed models of modern naval aircraft and carriers, as well as dynamic missions and multiplayer scenarios. In this blog post, I will review some of the features and highlights of Flight Deck 6, and share my experience of flying with it.
Flight Deck 6 includes four aircraft carriers: the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69), the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77), and the HMS Illustrious (R06). Each carrier has a fully functional catapult and arresting system, as well as animated deck crew, elevators, radars, and lights. The carriers can be placed anywhere in the world using the included Carrier Positioning Tool, which also allows you to adjust the wind direction and speed, the sea state, and the time of day.
The add-on also comes with eight naval aircraft: the F/A-18C Hornet, the F/A-18E Super Hornet, the F-14B Tomcat, the E-2C Hawkeye, the S-3B Viking, the SH-60 Seahawk, the AV-8B Harrier II, and the Sea Harrier F/A.2. Each aircraft has a high-quality 3D model and cockpit, with accurate flight dynamics and systems. The aircraft also have custom sound sets, effects, animations, and liveries. Some of the aircraft have special features, such as folding wings, refueling probes, thrust vectoring, and VTOL capabilities.
Flight Deck 6 offers a variety of missions and scenarios for both single-player and multiplayer modes. The missions range from basic carrier operations, such as takeoffs and landings, to more challenging tasks, such as air-to-air combat, air-to-ground strikes, aerial refueling, and carrier defense. The missions are scripted with voice-overs, briefings, and debriefings. The multiplayer mode allows you to fly with or against other players online or on a local network. You can choose from different roles and scenarios, such as fighter escort, bomber attack, or carrier assault.
Flight Deck 6 is a must-have for any flight simulation enthusiast who loves naval aviation. It is compatible with both FS 2004 and FSX, and it works well with other add-ons and scenery. It is available for purchase from various online stores for around $30 USD. If you are looking for a realistic and enjoyable naval flight simulation experience, you should definitely check out Flight Deck 6.
