If you are a fan of flight simulators, you might be interested in this mod for Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Boeing 777-200LRF British Airways World Cargo package. This mod adds a realistic and detailed model of the Boeing 777-200LRF, a long-range freighter version of the popular Boeing 777-200 passenger jet. The mod features a virtual cockpit, a working FMC/FMS, opening doors and cargo doors, dynamic flexing wings, and more. In this blog post, I will review some of the features and benefits of this mod and show you how to install it on your FSX.
The Boeing 777-200LRF is one of the most advanced and efficient cargo planes in the world. It can carry up to 103 tons of payload over a range of 9,045 km (4,880 nmi). It is powered by two General Electric GE90-110B1 engines, each producing 110,100 lbf (489 kN) of thrust. The plane has a wingspan of 64.8 m (212 ft), a length of 63.7 m (209 ft), and a height of 18.6 m (61 ft). It has a maximum takeoff weight of 347,800 kg (766,800 lb) and a maximum landing weight of 251,290 kg (554,000 lb).
The mod is based on the beautiful Project Opensky model, which has been revised and updated by Chris Evans and Hanzalah Ravat. The model features high-quality textures, accurate paint, dynamic shine and effects, fully independent suspension, trim animation, gear steering, spoiler animation, reflective cockpit windows, crash effects, animated tilting bogies, full night lighting, ground service vehicles when cargo door open, and more. The model also has a detailed virtual cockpit with custom gauges and instruments, such as the Primary Flight Display (PFD), Navigation Display (ND), Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS), Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS), Flight Management Computer (FMC), autopilot panel, radio panel, overhead panel, throttle quadrant, and more.
The mod also includes a working FMC/FMS by JB panels, which allows you to plan and execute your flight with realistic procedures and performance calculations. You can access the FMC under Views – Instrument panel in FSX. The FMC can display various pages such as INIT REF, RTE, DEP ARR, LEGS, PERF INIT, TAKEOFF REF, APPROACH REF, VNAV CLB/CRZ/DES pages, PROGRESS page, HOLD page, DIR INTC page, FIX page, etc. You can also enter waypoints manually or select them from the database. The FMC can also calculate the optimal speed and altitude for your flight based on your weight and fuel.
To install this mod on your FSX, you need to download the file from this link: http://www.allflightmods.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-x/boeing-777-200lrf-british-airways-world-cargo-package/. The file size is about 68 MB and it contains a readme file with installation instructions. Basically, you need to unzip the file and copy the folder "Boeing 777-200LRF British Airways World Cargo" to your FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes folder. Then you need to copy the contents of the "effects" folder to your FSX/effects folder. After that, you can launch FSX and select the plane from the aircraft menu.
