If you are a fan of flight simulation games, you might be interested in flying the Boeing 747-400 LCF (Large Cargo Freighter) Dreamlifter for FSX and P3D. This is a modified version of the Boeing 747-400 passenger airliner that can carry huge cargo loads, such as parts of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. In this blog post, I will give you an overview of this unique aircraft and how you can download and install it for your FSX and P3D games.
The Boeing 747-400 LCF Dreamlifter is one of the largest and most distinctive aircraft in the world. It has a bulging fuselage that can hold up to 65,000 cubic feet of cargo, which is three times more than a standard 747-400F freighter. The Dreamlifter was designed by Boeing to transport parts of the 787 Dreamliner from various suppliers around the world to the assembly sites in the U.S. It can carry wings, fuselage sections, tail assemblies and other large components that are too big for conventional cargo planes.
The Dreamlifter is based on the Boeing 747-400, but it has many modifications to accommodate its special role. The most obvious one is the enlarged fuselage, which is 18 feet wider and 12 feet higher than the original. The fuselage is also extended by 7 feet at the front and 8 feet at the rear. The tail section can swing open to allow loading and unloading of cargo with a special loader truck. The cockpit is raised by 8 feet to provide clearance for the cargo bay. The Dreamlifter also has a strengthened landing gear, a modified wing and a new flight control system.
The Dreamlifter is powered by four Pratt & Whitney PW4056 engines, each producing 56,750 pounds of thrust. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 803,000 pounds and a maximum payload of 250,000 pounds. It can fly at a cruising speed of Mach 0.82 and a range of 4,200 nautical miles with a full load. The Dreamlifter has a crew of three: two pilots and one loadmaster.
The Dreamlifter made its first flight on September 9, 2006, and entered service in 2007. Boeing has converted four 747-400s into Dreamlifters, which are operated by Atlas Air under contract with Boeing. The Dreamlifters are based at Paine Field in Everett, Washington, and Charleston International Airport in South Carolina. They fly regularly between these locations and other sites in Italy, Japan, China and elsewhere.
If you want to experience flying the Dreamlifter yourself, you can download a superb mod for FSX and P3D from Rikoooo.com. This mod includes a new 3D model with PBR (only on P3Dv4 and v5), custom sounds, an improved virtual cockpit, a 2D panel adapted for the LCF version, special effects, night lighting, GPWS, ground handling services and more. You can also use the "Utility and Big Dream Loader" panel to access all the animations, such as opening and closing the tail section and loading cargo.
